Some Changes for the Future
Examples of Performance-based design - Thinking of goals and beyond the codes- Create ceiling “cells” to contain smoke and heat. - Intensify sprinkler coverage beyond codes requirements.- Increase sizes of exhaust fans for better smoke control. - Specify fire rated, higher impact glazing.- Specify window sprinklers to create a fire-rated wall. - Specify high performance steel.- Specify sloping walkways that have less than a 12:1 rise.- Specify all spaces to be adaptable, if not accessible rather than just percentages required by law.
